Our Story, History and Mission

Mission Statement

To build simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with local families in need.

Our Story

IMG_4770.JPG

Founded in 1995 Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties (HFHELC) has built 1-2 homes per year in the first 13 years. In 2007, we assembled a team of professional builders from the area, and with their guidance have increased that capacity to 4-6 homes per year. By the end of 2010, HFHELC plans to have completed 35 homes, housing over 100 children.

Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties is poised for an ambitious growth initiative in the coming years. We have the support of the professional builder community, have a seasoned staff, an exceptional Board of Directors, a number of quality home applicants, and a sound fundraising and financial model.

HFHELC is striving for LEED certification on all 16 homes at its current build site, Fox Hollow in Edwards, Colorado and was recently recognized at a statewide level for our green building methods and increased capacity.

Habitat for Humanity of Colorado

There are 31 Habitat affiliates across the state of Colorado having collectively built 1,000 homes in the last 30 years. In December of 2008, HFH of Eagle and Lake Counties celebrated the first Fox Hollow home dedication which marked the 1001st home to be completed in Colorado. The dedication marked the beginning of a statewide capacity building campaign to build 1000 more homes in the next 3 years For more information about the 1000 Homes Campaign visit www.habitatcolorado.org.
