Outlet Volunteers - Making a Difference
Our
success would not be possible without the help of our volunteers. If
you are interested in making a difference for local families and
having a positive impact on our environment, give us a call.
Details
The
store is open Tuesday - Saturday and needs volunteers each
day. Please sign up in advance so we can plan for projects! Working at
the Outlet can get a little dirty so please wear appropriate clothes
and proper shoes. We will provide work gloves if necessary.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old.
Volunteers under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
Types of Volunteers
Cashier*: Assist customers with purchases, answer
phones and provide excellent customer service!

Online Sales Coordinator: Post unique items for sale on eBay, Craig’s List
and other sites, provide follow up and handle transactions.

Pricing Assistant: Photograph and research unique items online and
through other sources to determine an appropriate sales price.
| Outside Advertising Coordinator: Advertise
unique items for sale in publications and sources to reach the target market.

Best of the Best Sale Assistant: Determine appropriate pricing for high end
furnishings and help prepare display for sales – for volunteers with interior design experience
|
Merchandising Assistant*: Maintain a pleasing display of items for an aisle
or area within the store (i.e. lighting) – great
opportunity for a couple of friends to do together

| Lumber/Building Materials Assistant - Research and maintain industry appropriate pricing of lumber and building materials - for volunteers with background in these materials |
Data Entry Assistant: Assist with data entry and record keeping of
volunteer hours and customer donations – for
volunteers with database and office experience

DeconstructionStrategically
'ripping apart' a house... Doesn't it sound fun! Join our
deconstruction group to help salvage reusable materials from
construction remodels. Cabinets, doors, trim are great examples of
materials we can divert from the landfill.

Volunteer Hours
Jobs with an * must be
performed at the Outlet during store hours (Tuesday – Friday 10am to 6pm and
Saturday 10am to 4pm)
All other jobs can be done
on your own time at home, if you have a computer and internet access. Weekly visits to the Outlet would be required
to gather information and share updates with staff.
Due to the training involved with each of these
jobs, a regular weekly or semi-weekly commitment of 6 months is requested.
