Construction Volunteers – A Job for Everyone!

Volunteering on the construction site is a fun, challenging and rewarding experience. There’s a seemingly never ending list of volunteer jobs on the construction site, so there’s usually a job for evVolunteerConstr1.jpgeryone regardless of experience level. While subcontractors perform licensed work, such as electrical, mechanical and plumbing, volunteers are heavily involved in framing, siding, drywall, insulation, painting, tile and all finish work.

Age Requirements

Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old to participate in all construction activities. 16 and 17 year olds can perform limited, safe construction activities. 14 and 15 year olds can help with non-construction activities, such as cleaning, organizing and landscaping, as long as they are removed from any areas where construction is taking place. Younger children can work with their families to provide lunches, drinks or snacks for volunteers or can help with other projects off site.

VolunteerConstr2.jpgShifts Available

Most volunteers sign up for half-day or full-day shifts. However, we appreciate any time you can give us, even if your schedule is limited! Half-day shifts begin at 9am and end at 12:30pm. Full-day shifts begin at 9am and end around 4pm. You’ll break for lunch around noon or 12:30pm and will wrap up for the day around 4pm. The construction schedule varies throughout the year but is always kept up to date online. Regular Volunteers

These are the volunteers that just can’t stay away from Habitat - and we love them for that. They are the perpetual resource that drives our mission to build quality affordable housing in Eagle and Lake Counties. They can be also known as – Team Leaders. Once or twice a month our team leaders don their tool belts and help us keep our site in order. They welcome volunteers, help first timers find the tools they need, lead small groups on construction projects and assist in maintaining a safe and enjoyable construction experience.  No experience is necessary and training is provided. If you are interested in becoming a team leader please email our Volunteer Coordinator.

Individual Volunteers

Learn new skills! Get outside! Meet new people! Come build with us! No experience is necessary and all necessary tools are provided.

Volunteer Teams – Pick a Task!

If you want to get involved in a particular phase of construction, such as siding, tile installation, trim carpentry, etc., let us know by emailing the Volunteer Coordinator and we’ll put you on that “team”.  When that phase of construction draws near, we’ll contact you to schedule your volunteer days.

Group/Team Build Days

Team build days are an excellent way to build camaraderie within your work force or create fellowship or social opportunities for your group while giving back to the community.  We regularly work with small and medium sized groups of up to 12 volunteers.  Group leaders may sign up their group online by clicking here.  To inquire about a large group opportunity, email our Volunteer Coordinator or call (970) 748-6718.
