There is No Place Like Home...

In 2008, the Habitat affiliates in Colorado reached a milestone having collectively completed 1000 homes over the last 30 years, allowing 5000 people to have a safe, decent, affordable place to call home. Since our inception in 1995, Habitat for Humanity of Eagle & Lake Counties has housed 27 families and over 80 children in simple, decent, and affordable homes. Additionally, each affiliate contributes a donation to an International build for every home they complete in their area, effectively doubling the number of homes built bringing our affiliates total to 54 families!

The 1000 Homes Campaign is about the next 1000 Homes. It is a goal of the 31 Colorado affiliates to collectively build 1000 more homes by the end of 2011.

As of the beginning of 2010, we are 22% towards this goal of 1000 Homes in Colorado and abroad.  We built 106 homes here in Colorado in 2009 and 106 more internationally.  HFH Paraguay contributed 55 of those 106. We are making good progress and will continue to make the greatest impact possible.

1001st Home Celebration

On December 19th 2008 Habitat for Humanity of Eagle & Lake Counties welcomed 4 families home just in time to celebrate the holidays. This celebration and home dedication was an important milestone for our affiliate as well as for Habitat for Humanity across the state of Colorado as these 4 homes kicked off a statewide campaign to build 1000 Habitat homes in Colorado and internationally through our tithe program over the next three years.

Paraguay

Habitat of Colorado has selected Paraguay to support through our collective titParaguay 046.jpghe statewide. Habitat of Eagle & Lake Counties volunteered to be the first affiliate to lead an introductory build trip to Paraguay to kick off the international portion of the 1000 Homes Campaign. Board member Amanda Precourt led the charge with staff member Emily Peyton and 6 other Habitat supporters to build a home in Asuncion, Paraguay. Having 6 days to complete the project, the team worked hard every day and everyone felt they gained just as much as they gave.
